Ride the Cyclone
Darkly funny, wildly imaginative, and surprisingly heartfelt, Ride the Cyclone is the viral musical phenomenon that has taken the world by storm. Buckle up for the ride of a lifetime, as Ride the Cyclone crashes into Wellington to make its Aotearoa New Zealand premiere at Circa Theatre next April.
In this hilarious and exhilarating story, the lives of six teenagers of the St. Cassian Chamber Choir are changed forever after they board a doomed rollercoaster ride.
Thrown into the abyss, they awake to find an ominous mechanical fortune teller that offers them the chance to compete for the prize … to return home in one piece.
Now confronted with their darkest desires, shameful secrets and each other, this “supremely witty … and just plain delightful” (New York Times) musical makes a uniquely uplifting and outrageous case for what makes a life worth living.
Featuring a deliriously funny, genre-defying score, Ride the Cyclone introduces some of the most remarkable characters in modern musical theatre – brought to life by six of Wellington’s finest musical theatre performers.
★★★★★ "...utterly charming, utterly bonkers, and utterly wonderful.” – ArtsHub Australia
★★★★ “Dark yet camp, nihilistic yet strangely life-affirming, this show is full of surprises and just as brilliantly bonkers as it sounds. This darkly comedic viral musical sensation is a wild ride” – Time Out AU
